Reclaim your storage space on Windows 10

Windows 10 uses less hard drive space than  earlier versions of Windows, but if you have a Windows tablet or laptop with a very small storage drive, you can run into problems quickly, especially if you want to keep up to date with Windows Updates and Security fixes.

Fortunately it is very easy to quickly reclaim your disk space.

1. Open Settings from the Start menu.

2. Click System.

3. Click on Storage and then in the right pane select your C: drive. (This is your hard drive)

4. From this page you can click each section and free up storage. For example, by clicking ‘Temporary Files’ we can go in and remove any previous versions of windows which may take up considerable space

Note that if you have removed a large amount of files or apps, this may not be shown instantly in the amount of free space shown. As an example, if you remove previous versions of Windows, this could take 30 minutes and then a reboot of your pc for the free space to appear.
